La Perouse Panthers

Synopsis

Originally started in 1930 as an "all-blacks" team when racial division was rife, this footie club later embraced people from many nations around the world.

Footie games have become a vital part of the La Perouse community ("La Pa" for the locals). This documentary follows the team and its trainer through the 2005 Grand Final season in various matches into the final. You get a detailed insight into the team as you follow them through the games, into the change rooms and training sessions.

Chris, their trainer, says: "If you're black or white, as long as you can play football, you're in." And the La Pa boys demonstrate it in each game with their shirts which are black and white.
