Our Law (Series 2)

Synopsis

Returning for Series 2 is Custody Police Auxiliary Officer Ace Keirnan in Kalgoorlie and Constable Leroy Rundle in Perth, while Sergeant Alan Kickett is a new participant in Broome.

Constable Rundle recently completed his probationary period at Mandurah Police Station, but the series captured him at crucial points, firstly as a Cadet and then a Recruit. Now as a fully-fledged constable, he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his mentors to inspire better connections, and perhaps encourage more Aboriginal people in to a policing career. “It’s my mob and I want to help them, and communication is our best tool for that. We need more of our mob to join the job, and if they can see me on TV as a role model that might help make a change.”

Sergeant Kickett has been making a difference since joining as an Aboriginal Police Liaison Officer in 1996. His calming presence in various situations in Broome is showcased throughout Series 2. “I still enjoy going out talking to people and doing things like that, and it’s important to see that playing out to the greater public.”

“I’m glad we get to see that Aboriginal people have a voice in this organisation, and it’s good for the recruitment drive, for the young ones coming through.”
